Pranav Patel is a registered U.S. patent attorney and biomedical engineer whose practice focuses on patent prosecution, emerging technologies, and strategic IP counseling. He works with inventors, startups, and technology companies on patent drafting and prosecution, Office Action practice, prior art analysis, patentability, freedom-to-operate, invalidity, non-infringement, IP diligence, portfolio development, and IP strategy.

Pranav brings a multidisciplinary background across software, artificial intelligence, digital health, medical devices, mechanical systems, life sciences, and regulated technologies. Before joining M&B IP, he advised inventors and businesses on patent and trademark strategy, managed IP matters from intake through filing and prosecution, supported portfolio development and clearance analysis, and handled civil litigation, defense litigation, and technical-record analysis. His experience also includes work at NASA’s Office of Chief Counsel and published FDA and public-health research in JAMA Internal Medicine.

Pranav earned his B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Northwestern University and his J.D. from the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he received an IP Law Certificate, earned a CALI Award in IP Licensing, and served as President of the Student Bar Association, President of the Intellectual Property & Technology Law Association, and Executive Managing Editor of the Journal of Technology Law & Policy. He also holds an M.P.H. from the George Washington University. Pranav is admitted in New Jersey and Massachusetts and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Outside his legal practice, Pranav has been involved in public-facing media and projects, including Netflix’s The Mole (2022) and AfroDesi, a South Asian and African diasporic dance and music collective he founded in 2018.
